Sharing Our Years of Experience With You

User-Friendly Vehicle Modifications

9/4/2014

According to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, each year over 40,000 vehicles are modified by registered dealers all over the United States. I personally believe that vehicles are like second home for individuals who spend a lot of time in their automobiles because of occupational responsibilities (such as long-distance truck drivers, cabbies etc.), lifestyle or recreational preferences or other reasons. Needless to say that high dependency on vehicle call for a lot of user-friendly modifications. We all want our comfort and peace (especially when we have to sit in traffic for hours).

You may have an idea that vehicle modifications like tinting the windows are insignificant and trivial, for which you don’t need an expert’s advice; but if you are looking for large modifications, you better consult an expert. This is because:

  • Changing the manufacturer specifications may affect the integrity and functioning of the vehicle
  • Any remarkable modification by an inexperienced handler can increase your risk of accidents, injuries and catastrophic events
  • Some vehicle modifications are not permissible by law. It is therefore highly recommended to hire the services of an expert if you don’t want legal issues.

Vehicle Modification and possible issues:

One of our client required modification of his truck for special indications. These modifications were major and multi-dimensional including:

  • Adjustment of the frame of the truck
  • Modification of the wheel base
  • Interior of the vehicle
  • Weight of the vehicle

The primary concern of the client was the Gross Vehicle Weight rating being sufficient for the intended use of the vehicles.

How we approached the situation?

In order to address this issue, we carefully analyzed the situation in order to devise a functional plan to comply with the requirements and demands of the client. Our team of automobile engineers and mechanics studied the specifications of the manufacturer’s vehicle and compared it to the standard requirements of the industry. Based on the findings and legal recommendations, we performed:

  • Appropriate changes in the wheel base and frame of the truck as demanded by the client in light of the careful analysis.
  • Front and rear axle calculations to determine the suitability for the intended use and compatibility with the suspension rating.
  • Evaluation of the size of the tires sizes to confirm the compliance of the sizing with the Gross Vehicle Weight.
  • Calculation of the center of gravity and weight distribution when vehicle is in operation to confirm safety of the driver.

Not only does we delivered the required modifications but also made sure that the changes would not interfere with the safety and efficiency of the driver.

Motor vehicle accidents (MVA) is one of the leading causes of death in United States. Based on recent estimates, each year more than 2.3 million adults seek emergency medical care for the management of acute injuries. Any unauthorized revisions or modification in your automobile is not only hazardous for your health (and for the safety of others on the road), but is also liable to punishment by the US law.
