Toxic Mold Testing

A basic sampling protocol for toxic mold involves at least one outdoor and two indoor air quality evaluations. The first indoor air quality evaluation is taken in a non-complaint area and the second indoor air quality evaluation in a complaint area of the building. If the situation requires it, air samples may be complemented by surface, carpet dust, bulk, and wall cavity mold testing. Fournier Robson environmental and engineering consultants only use laboratories that are EMLAP accredited by the American Industrial Hygiene Association.

Methodology - The FRA toxic mold consultant works closely with you to:

  1. Identify the moisture source.
  2. Develop a plan to eliminate the moisture.
  3. Mold testing to determine the type and location of visible and hidden toxic mold.
  4. Develop a plan to clean up the mold.
  5. Recommend qualified mold remediation firms, if requested.
  6. Perform post-remediation validation testing.

Toxic Mold Basics

  • Molds are part of the natural environment.
  • Molds reproduce by means of invisible spores that are always present in the air.
  • Molds begin growing indoors when spores land on surfaces where there are favorable moisture levels, temperatures and a food source.
  • Toxic Molds have the potential to produce health problems, such as allergies, asthma, infections, toxicosis.(mycotoxins) and irritations.
